Course Enrollment vs. Exam
While most students take the AP Calculus AB course at their school before sitting for the exam, it is not a requirement. Students who self-study or learn the material through other means are permitted to register for and take the exam. However, success is strongly correlated with completing a year-long, dedicated AP course. Home-schooled students must contact local AP Coordinators to arrange testing. All students should check with their school for registration procedures.
