IChO Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility for the International Chemistry Olympiad is determined by age, educational status, and a national selection process. Each country sends a team of four students.
Student Eligibility Requirements
- Age Limit
- Must be under 20 years old.
- Education Status
- Not enrolled as a regular student in a post-secondary institution.
- Prior Participation
- Can participate a maximum of two times.
- Selection
- Must be selected through a country's official National Olympiad.
- Team Size
- Four students per participating country.
The National Selection Process
To represent your country at the IChO, you must first excel in your national chemistry olympiad program. This process typically involves multiple rounds of exams and a training camp for the top performers. The final team is selected from this camp based on performance in theoretical and practical tests. The specific structure of the national selection is managed by a designated organization in each country, so you should consult their official resources for details.
