Singapore Mathematical Olympiad (SMO) Eligibility
Eligibility for the SMO is primarily determined by the student's current level of education in a Singaporean school. The competition is divided into three sections based on this.
Eligibility by Section
- SMO Junior
- Students up to and including Secondary 2.
- SMO Senior
- Students up to and including Secondary 4.
- SMO Open
- Students up to and including Junior College 2 or Pre-University 3.
- Progression
- Students may participate in a higher section but not a lower one.
- Institution
- Must be enrolled in a registered school in Singapore.
Registration and Official Rules
Registration is done through schools, not by individual students. The Singapore Mathematical Society (SMS) is the organizing body and publishes the official and complete rules of participation each year. Schools are responsible for selecting and registering their participants according to the guidelines provided by the SMS. There are no citizenship requirements to participate in the competition.
